Graph shows participant performance across four main skills taught in The Secrets of Modern Parenting DVD series as trained by the Refocusing the Modern Family parenting program. This data is taken from a sample of 77 participants who participated in the program at the time of data collection. The data was collapsed and averaged for the group.

The skills include:

  1. Building Relationships
  2. Gaining Compliance
  3. Hear no Evil, See no Evil
  4. Call them on the Carpet

Each skill is pre-tested with each participant during the intake session via novel role play exercise; this is the lower line on the graph for each of the four skills (ex. Pre-Test). The second line (ex. Role Play) up shows the score accomplished after the initial training session when the parent was “role play” tested by the trainer using a novel example. The next two lines up (ex. Real Life 1, Real Life 2) show how the parent scored upon real life use of the skill with their children in a natural setting. The fourth line on each section is showing the post-test score of each skill (ex. Post-Test).

Key:

BR Building Relationships
RP Role Play
RL Real Life
Pre-Test Post-Test
GC Gaining Compliance
HNE Hear No Evil, See No Evil
COC Call on Carpet

Positive/Negative Interaction data is a very important component of this program and a point that is reiterated throughout the SMP series. Accomplishing a 5:1 ratio, of positive to negative, will accomplish a reduction in verbally and emotionally abusive instances and a stronger and more emotionally stable child.

This graph, to the left of the solid black line, looks at the baseline positive (purple) and baseline negative (green) interaction data and we see a [3.49:6.71] ratio. When we look to the right of the solid line we see a drastic shift and now the ratio is [6.27:1.11].

Parental Stress Index is a research validated psychometric evaluative tool that was chosen to be part of this in home parenting program.

***This graph looks at one of the domains measured when conducting the PSI, the Child Domain, parental stress as it related directly to their children. Our goal is to reduce parental stress as one of the outcomes of using SMP; we aim to reduce stress for parents, in child domain and overall domain.

“Parental Stress has been found to play an important role in abusive families; Abusive fathers spanked their children significantly more often than the non- abusive fathers, and abusive mothers had the highest frequency of critical statements directed at their children. Children from abusive households had significantly more behavior problems”Child Abuse & Neglect, Volume 15 Issue 3, 1991.

Read this graph by looking at the target behaviors from baseline to treatment portion of program, this graph compares progress from week one to week thirty-two as reported by parent to in home behavior coach staff.

This graph looks at the target child’s behavior over the course of the program (one child is chosen per family by parent). Behavior is measured weekly throughout course of program, no direct behavioral programming is done to target specific behaviors. The behavior coach measures change as a result of parent learning SMP proactive parenting skills.

Each child has achieved tremendous gains as seen in these two graphs.

Graph displays results of program consumer satisfaction survey results. Consumers are called during week 8, week 16, and upon program completion to determine their level of satisfaction with the program, their assigned staff and the information they were taught. The results are then tallied by consumer and a percent score of satisfaction is determined. These results are from  clients who had been surveyed as of February 28, 2013.
